Strong Argentina squad for Italy contest

Thursday 1 August 2013

Argentina's English-based defenders Pablo Zabaleta and Fabricio Coloccini have been included in a 22-man squad to play a friendly international against Italy next month.

Manchester City right-back Zabaleta and Newcastle defender Coloccini are part of the roster that will play the exhibition game in front of Pope Francis at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella has surprisingly included Inter Milan midfielder Ricardo Alvarez and Rubin Kazan defender Cristian Ansaldi in his squad for the 14 August match.

Napoli's recent signing Gonzalo Higuain is part of the team, as are Barcelona star Lionel Messi and his team-mate Javier Mascherano.
