Chris Woakes has earned an ECB Increment Contract following his Test debut

By making his Test debut in the fifth and final Ashes match at The Oval, Warwickshire's Chris Woakes has earned an increment contract from the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Over the last 12 months, which counts as the qualifying period for contract upgrades, Woakes has played seven One-Day Internationals, two Twenty20 Internationals and now one Test match.

Non-contracted players can earn an increment contract via a points system. Five points are awarded for a Test appearance and two points for an ODI or Twenty20 appearance with players eligible for a contract once they reach 20 points during a 12-month period.

In that period, Woakes played two ODIs against India, five ODIs against New Zealand and a Twenty20 game against New Zealand as well as the Ashes Test.

"This award reflects the contribution Chris has made this year in all formats of the game for England and we congratulate him on his achievement," National Selector Geoff Miller said.

Since making his international debut, Woakes has featured in one Test, 13 ODIs and four Twenty20 Internationals.
